This motion piece question whether the District of Columbia gun ban was actually an effective way of limiting gun violence, and identifies the main reason the gun violence even exists. Recently this summer the District of Columbia lifted its thirty year ban on guns ruling it unconstitutional, because it violated the second amendment. After much research, I found that the ban in no way improved gun related crimes, but in fact they reached record highs during that time. With this information I identified, in the motion piece, most of the crime was gang related, and that controlling gun ownership really in many ways ignored the problem all together.
